After over ten years of shaping words for clients as a lettering artist and graphic designer, I felt the need to loosen the reigns on typography while expanding my artistic practice. A more intuitive approach to creating artwork, without the need for an explicit message. An experiment in finding a new voice through a mostly organic, colorful aesthetic, not (yet) fully abandoning written language. Sometimes there's still something to read, other times it's hard to tell. Meaning, however, can always be found.
Using various media – one of which my signature paint carving technique – I created pieces which walk the line between abstract and legible. THE MEANING AND THE SHAPE shows a few recent results of this ongoing journey.
